Irish Fiddle/Guitar duo, Emma Walsh & Chuck Donnelly, are celebrating the release of their first CD, "Fresh Celtic," a compilation of original, modern, and traditional Celtic instrumental music. Emma and Chuck have been
performing together around Maine for over two years. Emma's powerful
and brilliant fiddle playing entwines with Chuck's percussive rhythms
and fast picked melodies creating a new musical fabric that is
at once familiar yet new and refreshing. Emma Walsh, at
age 15, is already established as one of Maine's premier fiddle players.
While she is classically trained and plays with a Bay Chamber orchestra,
much of her musical energy has been devoted to performing Celtic
music with her guitar partner, Chuck Donnelly. Chuck Donnelly
has been an active performer for over a decade and has released
two CDs before working on this most recent recording with Emma. Together
this dynamic duo focus on modern approaches to the age old traditions.
Their album "Fresh Celtic" is aptly named; traditional, yet
fresh and new.

Emma and Chuck's musical duo began in Dec 2008 when Chuck received an unexpected
phone call from Pam Walsh, Emma's mom. Emma had been asked to play
for a benefit at the municipal building in Bar Harbor and was looking
for a guitar player to back her up. The gig was the next day. Chuck
and Emma hurriedly put together a 20 minute practice session and they
played for 40 minutes in front of a small, but appreciative audience.
They have been getting together every week since then and have performed
nearly 100 gigs from Bar Harbor to Portland (including one TV appearance)
since that first gig in 2008.

This evening they will be performing with
some of the artists who recorded on "Fresh Celtic." Sig
Eschholz (bass) and Pheobe Durand-McDonnell (concert harp)
will help make this memorable evening for the whole family.

Suggested donation is $5 or $10 with a CD. Additional CDs can be
purchased for $10 each. Children 12 years and under are free.

The performance begins at 7:00PM. Seating is limited. The show will
be held at The Common Good Cafe at 566 Seawall Road in Southwest harbor.
